Mobi Media: Before You Start
Updating Your Mobi Media-Friendly Handset
Mobi Media-friendly handsets purchased prior to September 1, 2007, must be updated with Mobi Web software. This upgrade is free.
To enable your Mobi PCS phone for Mobi Media, you must do the following:
- Confirm that your handset is Mobi Media friendly. Click here for a list.
- Bring your handset into a Mobi PCS retail store location. Click here for store locations. Please note that Mobi PCS dealer locations will not be able to perform this software update.
- Be prepared for this software upgrade process to take up to 20 minutes, not including wait time.
How To Use Mobi Downloads
Download instructions from your handset
- Make sure you have adequate funds in your Mobi Bank to cover the cost of your download. For instructions on how to place funds in your Mobi Bank, click here.
- On your Mobi PCS handset select the mini-browser icon from the main menu. The icon looks like this
. This will take you to the Mobi Web. - Select Mobi Downloads.
- Make a selection from available content types.
- Select a category, content title, and then click on Buy It!. From you handset you will be able to preview wallpapers, but not ringtones.
- Once your Mobi Bank funds are validated and applied to your purchase, your handset will receive a text message prompting you to download the content. Accept the download and the content will be downloaded to your handset.
Download instructions from the Web site
- Make sure you have adequate funds in your Mobi Bank to cover the cost of your download. For instructions on how to place funds in your Mobi Bank, click here.
- Select the Mobi Media tab from the main menu on the Mobi PCS Web site. From the Mobi Media page, click on any Mobi Downloads hyperlink.
- You will be asked to specify your handset type on your first entry to the Downloads page. This ensures that you see only that content which works on your phone. If you change handset types be sure to change your handset selection.
- Select a content type, category and content title. You can then preview the ringtone or wallpaper and then click on Buy It!
- You will receive a text message on your handset where you will be asked to accept the purchase. Once your Mobi Bank funds are validated, the content will be downloaded to your handset.
Adding Funds to your Mobi Bank
There are three ways to add money into your Mobi Bank.
- Call *729 from your phone and deposit money using a credit / debit card.
- Deposit cash or use your credit / debit card at the Mobi Teller.
- Visit a Mobi customer service counter or authorized dealer and make a cash, check or credit / debit card deposit. (see locations)
Checking Your Mobi Bank Balance
You can find out how much remains in your prepaid Mobi Bank by dialing *729 from your Mobi PCS phone and following the prompts.
